The Northwich u3a Geology group enjoyed a day at the Copper Mine, Llandudno . The group walked through the mine, studied the rocks around the site and walked to the nearby quarry to look at the formations and find 'treasures'!

380 million years ago, this area was part of the Euramerica continent. just south of the equator. Where now stands the quarry was a lagoon full of shellfish. Each 'band' on the rock wall represents 150,000 years and it stands on the Menai Strait Fault.
328 million years ago, the mine sat on the cusp between shallow and deeper waters.
